Aleš Bravničar

Photographer, loving father of two girls, traveller and passionate hedonist. Looking for beautiful things, people with genuine energy  and memorable moments.

Aleš Bravničar is one of the most sought-after and best selling Slovenian photographers, with a broad and rich collection of works. We all know him best for his amazing work at Playboy Slovenia, where this year he celebrates his 15th anniversary of successful collaboration. One of the most fascinating and admirable things about him is that today, still after all these years, he works with the same passion and positive energy as he did when he started.

He became intensely involved in photography in the mid 1990’s. After a successful collaboration with the Slovenian Cosmopolitan his work was noticed next door - at the editorial office of Playboy. His very first shoot with Nike Zalokar raised a significant attention not only in Slovenia, but also overseas. He became the first Slovenian photographer whose photos were published in the American edition of Playboy, which is a remarkable achievement.

Notwithstanding the fact the majority of us know him through his photos immortalizing the beauty of the nude female body, it does not end there. Aleš is essentially a fashion photographer, adding a glamour touch in each of his photographs, published in Slovenian and international editions of glossy magazines such as Grazia, ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Maxim and FHM. Furthermore, he showcased numerous travel stories for National Geographic Traveler, in the Slovenian air carrier Adria Airways’ periodical, GEA and the Saturday Supplement of a daily newspaper Delo.

"By learning the world you learn about yourself."

Travel is one of his biggest passions. His passport is always full of stamps from unusual destinations and places that are not on top of most tourists’ lists. Turkmenistan, Eritrea and Afghanistan are just a few of such gems that have made a remarkable impression. He is interested in art and architecture, especially in Art Decò and the design associated with the colonial period. His collection includes a few interesting pieces in his home.

His creativeness is also showcased in his home kitchen, surprising and delighting his loved ones by creating delicious culinary works of art. One of his other hobbies, which many people do not know about, is collecting old banknotes, mostly from the former Yugoslavia and around the world.

Aleš Bravničar is a person who recognizes and really appreciates all things handmade and the effort invested in the creative process. As breathtaking photography does not occur overnight, neither do excellent spectacles. The Wood Stock team and Aleš share the passion, a desire to create something beautiful and unique.

This is where our paths crossed and our minds came together as one ….
