We know of several types of ebony and this wood is truly valued among the true connoisseurs of extravagant products. Its wood has an exceptional density – it exceeds the oak’s density by as much as 2 times, which is why the processing of the wood itself is a bit more demanding. It is found in African rainforests, humid forests of India, southern Asia, and islands in the Indian Ocean. The ancient tribes believed that this wood had supernatural properties, since it was supposed to protect them from evil spirits, and also made amulets and ceremonial weapons from ebony.
Trees of this type grow in Indonesia and have a very warm character. The colours of this wood are extremely varied – the base colour is black, and the name is added to the characteristic light brown to purple stripes, which give the product an extravagant and luxurious look. Makassar ebony embodies strength, protection and delivers positive energy when needed.
